Aspirations

The other day Connie sent me a link http://xszemkozt.blogspot.com to the incredible talented Nina and her Blog. I loved what I saw so much that I decided to try and dye my own linen following Nina's instructions. I used a 'teapigs' tea called 'Berry Fruitful' and this was the result. Not bad for a first attempt but I was sure I could do better if I tried. Who doesn't remember that phrase from their schooldays?

My next attempt was using chamomile tea with this choice of threads and ribbon.

And here is my final attempt using ordinary tea.

I really had a good time playing with this but no one need worry I certainly won't be making it a full time job.

Cool results! I've never dared to try dyeing linen on my own. I'm too chicken! Your dyeing looks fantastic!

Your attempts came out great. I've tried a couple different teas and have love the results. I just ordered some walnut crystals to try, but haven't had a chance to do that yet.

Sandra, I think your fabric and thread turned out wonderfully. You've given me hope that I might be able to master this as well, someday.

Enjoy your day!

I knew that my favourite Red berry Tea would come in useful, lovely results, especially the ordinary tea.

Fantastic results! I've tried dyeing my own fabric a time or two with mixed results. Yours look great!

Very nice results! I dyed my own linen once--on a WIP that I now can't find, since I want to finish it--but I didn't bake it like I see people are doing. It just got a little darker.

I love the way your hand-dyed things came out. And I love the heart too and I have seen it IRL and it is GORGEOUS!!!

Your hand-dyed fabrics look great. I will have to try some different teas next time I try.

Wow Sandra,
Your attempts at dying are incredible. I love the gorgeous lavender ribbons and the berry fabric especially. It's a really effective way of co ordinating some thread with some ribbon too. Bet the smell was delicious when the berry was simmering, a bit like jam making time all over again :>)
