how seeing a piece finished can change your mind about stitching it. The Sampler Guild had a get together a couple of weeks ago and I saw this little bird as a finished ornament. Now I had seen it many times before as it is featured in the Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament 2004 magazine. Each time I had totally ignored it's potential. At the Gathering I saw it finished beautifully by our friend Sandra Carstairs. Seeing her beautiful model really made me want to stitch it and this is the result.
Then I got carried away and decided to stitch the new small stockings from Blackbird designs. The charts are monthly and each feature three designs per month. I chose one design from January, February and March.
This is my January choice -
This is February with the mandatory hearts -
and this is March with spring daffodils -
Shepherd's Bush - Happy Christmas

Sandra, I love the bird and stockings. The bird is darling - I think, like you, I may have to give one a try. I also love your stockings - especially how you finished them. I stitched and finished the first one from the JCS mag but I really love how you did yours with the stuffing and cording. Really, really pretty!
Really love the bird - - another one who might have to give it a try having seen yours. And your stockings look great too - your needles have been busy :)
Oh how lovely! Whatever you make is always just amazing! Your finishing is gorgeous. I have yet to touch a stocking, but I'm planning to at some point. And like you I never really noticed that little bird -- it's wonderful!
Yes Sandra it is Amazing, just lovely to see your projects, what about those French charts then:-))
I never noticed the bird either until I saw it at Brittas and I don't remember if it was the same as your one is but I just went to check my photos and it isn't on there so I still don't know. You get so much more done than me it just isn't true. Maybe I should stitch more and stay off the computer more so off I am going as my Lily would have said. Lots and lots of Love and admiration Patti xxx
Glad you were inspired to stitch the Snowbird, it had turned out well. I just love those stocking though, they are just gorgeous.
Sandra - I absolutely love your stockings and they're finished so nice. I hear you about a design that you've seen over and over again. Someone stitches it and you see the beauty of it and have to stitch it! Your bird is darling.
Beautiful finishes - the birdie is on my to-do list too, he's just adorable!
more than amazing: it's outstanding!
i love the way you finished the stockings.
Well, what an inspiration your pictures are. I think we will all revisit that little bird design now we have seen yours. It's such a pretty chubby little bird :>)
What a nice idea to stitch one stocking from each set. They look so pretty Sandra. Your stitching and finishing really is an inspiration to us all.
Warm wishes Angela
Hello:
I am a member of an online stitching group with Angela. She told us about visiting you and made it sound like a wonderful adventure. She told us about your blog, so I had to visit you. I am going to look at your past entries. Hope you will pop in and visit my blog sometime.
Everyone of these things you stitched are beautiful.

Angela sent me a link to your blog. I do not know how I have missed visiting with you before! Wonderful stitching and finishing and I will be back to visit in the future!
Love your blog and your stitching. I am also a fan of Jackie duPlessis designs and I am working on finishing 2 from a recent workshop with her.
Love the Blackbird Designs stockings that you stitched.
Have a great day.

The stockings are stunning! I am doing them too and I hope that I can make mine as gorgeous as yours!
Your bird came out so beautifully! As have all your projects - I've really enjoyed reading your blog and admiring your stitching!
Hi Sandra! I just wanted to tell you - the reason I framed that chart in my craft room (CHS Alphabets, the Whole Kit-n-Kaboodle) is because Kathy used a picture I had taken of my framed ABC's as the model for the cover. She signed and sent me the first copy, so I just had to frame it!
Beautiful finished pieces, congrats :)
I just found your blog...your stitching is beautiful, and your finishing is immaculate! I esp love the 'carried away' set...I had seen the ads for this piece, but wanted to see better details of the 'smalls'. It is really lovely!!
